I just spent a week in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a real tourist destination for those living in the northeast and wanting to spend time walking or relaxing and sunbathing on the beach. Lots of activity for the kids on the boardwalk and lots of really good seafood restaurants.
If you’re a fan of oysters on the half shell, you’ll be in heaven. They come fresh from various destinations and served on a tray of crushed ice like a flight of beers at a microbrewery. Love scallops, fish, mussels, shrimp, crab, squid, clams, and lobster? They’re all to be found here in abundance and prepared in many different ways.
We stayed in a quiet and nicely appointed B&B just a few blocks from the beach. Walking the neighborhoods was a fun experience because the architecture is so interesting and most yards were filled with flowers and a variety of trees.
Main Street and the boardwalk were dotted with typical amusement park games and vendors, specialty food shops, and the usual t-shirt shops and gift stores. We found a nice beach clothing and shoe shop which had these colorful and fun wristwatches from Shark Clip. Like shoes, you can never have enough watches, right?
Hope you enjoyed this little armchair visit to Rehoboth Beach. A nice beach town if you don’t mind the crowds, cold ocean water, and not much else to do here except shopping at the numerous outlet stores.
